Upinion & PAX – A Conversation with and about Syrian Refugees in Lebanon, Türkiye, and the Netherlands: a 360 view

22 February @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm

Overview:

In 2024, Syrian refugees are more trapped than ever in an invisible ‘no man’s land’, between the hammer and the anvil: a country to which they cannot return, neighbouring countries that no longer want to receive them, and European countries that are denying them entry in increasingly violent ways. The complete lack of solutions for Syrian refugees has sowed the seeds of a new refugee crisis, with large numbers of Syrians leaving their host countries in an unsafe manner again in attempts to reach Europe.

What do Syrians themselves, spread across the region and Europe, say about their experiences, hopes and dreams, and in terms of solutions? A debate from different angles, including a book presentation by Willem Staes and the real-time involvement of Upinion’s online community of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Türkiye. Space for further engagement, book signing, and drinks afterwards.
