French-Speaking Researcher

Upinion is a social enterprise that amplifies the voices of communities in crisis situations through social media. We believe that those affected by crisis situations are the best to identify their problems, needs, and solutions. Our platform engages with thousands of people simultaneously, analyse the text, voice recordings, photos, videos gathered, and share the results back with the communities and with relevant NGOs.

For our new project in Mali ‘Voice4Thought (V4T) Académie Jeunesse: appropriations et pratiques de la citoyenneté par des expressions de l’art et du savoir’, Upinion is seeking a: French speaking quantitative researcher

(Between 20 and 32 hours, for the duration of 1 year, with possible extension)

The aim of the Voice4Thought Academy is to ensure that young people themselves (18-35 years old) will analyze their current situation, in relation to the conflict in the country, but also in relation to unemployment, the problems of the society in question and express themselves in public in order to provide elements for peace processes. This is especially important in the crisis in Mali where youth can play an important role in reconciliation processes. The academy we are proposing is one of the ways to bring out the voices of youth and build together an alternative and a perspective on a bright future.

For this, we are looking for a hands-on, tech-savvy, quantitative, french speaking researcher to support the database, by collecting the stories and insights of young people through the Upinion platform. Also, you will train a group of Malinese youth through a Train-the-trainer (ToT) concept, so that they will be able to collect and analyze data through Upinion as well.

As the researcher you will work closely with the V4T team both in the Netherlands and Mali to create an archive that puts the voices of the youth out there.
