Communications Officer
The Role
Are you a digital content creator who can boost the Hague Humanity Hub’s and Just Peace’s online outreach and engagement?
We are looking for a part-time communications officer to expand our growing communications team!
To support the Humanity Hub’s and Just Peace’s communications, you will create compelling media and effective storytelling, ensuring consistency in messaging, tone of voice, and brand identity across all communication platforms.
As a Communication Officer, you will edit, write, and publish content and keep both websites up to date. You will select and edit photos and create visuals and social media banners using Canva or Adobe Suite. You will also create and adapt content for our social media channels.
The content for the Humanity Hub will be produced in English, while all Just Peace content will be in Dutch and English. In close coordination with the Communications and Marketing Manager and the programming team, you will create and coordinate communication campaigns for different programmes and projects and help to further develop their communications strategies.
You will also help to optimise and strengthen the Humanity Hub and Just Peace branding and identity.
Key responsibilities
- Create compelling content and effective storytelling through presentations, articles, interviews, blog posts, videos and other media formats, with focus on identifying and selecting content opportunities within our community to create compelling content and stories
- Manage the social media channels, newsletters and websites of our Humanity Hub and Just Peace brands in collaboration with other members of the Communications Team
- In collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Manager, identify and monitor KPIs to evaluate and report on the success of our online campaigns
- Assist with the design and implementation of the organisation’s communications strategy
- Develop and execute project specific communication campaigns and deliverables
- Work closely with the project coordinators to fulfil communication requirements of programmes and partnerships
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
- Stay up to date and implement latest social media and communication trends and best practices
- Support the team where needed, including events and projects
Profile
- Abililty to create compelling written and visual content
- A skilled writer, in both English and Dutch and ability to set the right tone of voice for our communications
- Experience with graphic design software (Canva/Adobe Suite), social media management software (e.g. Zoho/Buffer), newsletter tools (e.g. Mailchimp/Zoho Campaigns), CMS systems (e.g. WordPress / Bolt)
- At least 2 year of previous work experience in communications including social media, marketing and online campaigns
- MBO/HBO degree in communication/marketing/international relations/politics or another relevant field of study
- Flexible, open-minded and creative
- Affinity with the peace and justice community in The Hague and the Humanity Hub’s mission
- Applicants must have the right to work in The Netherlands.
What we offer
- A one-year contract, four days a week (0,8 FTE or 32 hours p/w) with the possibility to extend
- A full-time salary of €2900 per month (€2320 for 4 days p/w). The salary offer might be adjusted up or down depending on qualifications

Just Peace The Hague is a public-facing programme aiming to highlight the various ways in which (inter)national organisations in The Hague work towards a more peaceful and just world. Just Peace aims to bring Peace & Justice to life for everyone in the city through events, an online platform with stories, and an active community of partner organisations.
The Just Peace programme is a collaboration between the Municipality of The Hague and various peace&justice organisations in The Hague and is being coordinated by The Hague Humanity Hub.
