The Handshake with Simon Tiller

24 April @ 5:00 pm 7:00 pm

Overview

Join us for our next edition of The Handshake! This event series invites seasoned professionals from the peace & justice ecosystem to share the insights they have gained from their career journey, give advice using the current context of the field, and answer your questions. It is an opportunity for open discussions and knowledge sharing. This event series aims to inspire young professionals wishing to build a career in the field of peace & justice.

This edition features Simon Tiller. Following a period of university study which took him to seven different countries, he received four degrees whilst simultaneously witnessing widespread political upheaval in Europe and participating in epoch-defining events. He has experience working in the private sector (15 years), has served his country as a diplomat (10 years), and has worked for international NGOs (5 years), always in the service of making the world a better, more humane place. Never feeling completely at home anywhere, but able to fit in most places, Simon has been fascinated by issues surrounding conflict and cultural identity, bearing witness to the extreme condition of humanity to be found whilst making war or making peace. Following his last diplomatic posting in Kyiv, where Simon participated as an international civil servant in the official peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, he and his family fled the war – like so many others – before finding himself in The Hague. His current role at The HALO Trust sees him raising funds for humanitarian mine action projects across the conflict-affected regions of the world, including in the most fragile and conflict-affected states.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to ask him questions and learn from the wealth of knowledge he has gained from his experiences!
