Strengthening conflict resolution capabilities in the Netherlands

8 June, 2023 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

This is a separate side session organised by The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law that will dive into the recent lessons from the road to submitting a proposal at the National Growth Fund*. This session will take place from 14:00 – 15:00, before the peace&justice café event starting at 15:00.

The proposal, coordinated and submitted by HiiL, but representing the collective plans of a consortium of 34 partners, entails a first real attempt at broad PCJ-development on a national scale in the Netherlands. The plan spans 7 conflict areas and includes development on financial models, regulation and (international) dissemination and movement.

During the session, we facilitate interaction on lessons learned regarding questions such as:- What have we learned from making the economic and the social case for people-centred justice? – Coalition building: what have we learned from working with a large consortium of partners?- How does the approach put forth in the plan for the Netherlands resonate in other countries and what opportunities or challenges might be at play in the context of other countries?

* With the Dutch Growth Fund the Dutch government allocates funding (a total of 20 billion between 2021-2025) to projects with the highest potential of contributing to our national earning capacity, or in other words, to durable economic growth in either the field of knowledge development or R&D and innovation.

This side session is a part of the next peace&justice café with focus on ‘People-Centred Justice’ in collaboration with The Hague Institute for the Innovation of Law and as part of Hague Justice Week!

Please note that you will need to register separately for the side-session organised by HiiL and for the peace&justice café event.
