About the Event

During this session, Koen van Swam from North Sea Farmers will be our special guest. As a community of businesses with a passion for seaweed, North Sea Farmers works towards positive climate impact. By growing a sustainable seaweed sector, we aim to improve biodiversity, reduce carbon emissions and be part of the circular economy. Before Koen starts his presentation, Coos Santing, program manager ImpactCity, will give a brief introduction to another cool innovative initiative in The Hague: Campus@Sea.

Bio Koen van Swam

Koen van Swam is a North Sea Farmer. He is responsible for stakeholder engagement, communications, and public relations. He brings together stakeholders from across the whole value chain in the seaweed community and has in-depth knowledge of the various stakeholders as well as the relevant topics in the field of seaweed cultivation. In the past years, Koen was very successful in drawing the Dutch media’s attention to the activities of North Sea Farmers and therewith generating a public forum for seaweed. 

Koen has a background in communication and innovation studies (MSc). He was part of the editorial team of the book “Groente uit Zee” (Vegetables from the Sea, http://noordzeeboerderij.nl/groenteuitzee) a book with information and recipes about seaweed.
