Thank you for your interest in the high-level event on MHPSS, on 11 June at 14.00 (CEST) organized by War Child, IFRC, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This event will provide a platform for national health authorities and multilateral organizations to showcase and explore possibilities to act on our collective resolve to increase MHPSS for everyone, illustrating how including MHPSS as a cornerstone of national health policy strengthens societies’ ability to recover and thrive.

With the high-level participation of:

– Youth Advocate from Colombia, Ms Julieth Pacheco
– Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Mark Lowcock
– Secretary General, IFRC, Jagan Chapagain
– Director General, ICRC, Robert Mardini
– Assistant Director-General, WHO, Ren Minghui
– Chief Executive Officer, War Child Holland, Ramin Shahzamani

This high-level panel will be followed by two separate, parallel sessions:

Session A: “Healing invisible wounds of the COVID-19 pandemic in countries affected by armed conflict or other emergencies”

This session will illustrate the effect of armed conflict, other man-made crises, and the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental and psychosocial wellbeing, especially of children and their families. Participating organizations will share the power of sound MHPSS policy in sustainably recovering from emergencies.

Session B: “Responding to Compounding Crises: Climate Change, COVID-19 & MHPSS”

This session will discuss how global health, including mental health and implementation of the Mental Health Action Plan, can be combined with and supportive to climate mitigation approaches. Innovative solutions will be shared to assist Member States in efforts to improve both climate and (mental) health outcomes.
