Following a period of university study which took him to seven different countries\, he received four degrees whilst simultaneously witnessing widespread political upheaval in Europe and participating in epoch-defining events. He has experience working in the private sector (15 years)\, has served his country as a diplomat (10 years)\, and has worked for international NGOs (5 years)\, always in the service of making the world a better\, more humane place. Never feeling completely at home anywhere\, but able to fit in most places\, Simon has been fascinated by issues surrounding conflict and cultural identity\, bearing witness to the extreme condition of humanity to be found whilst making war or making peace. Following his last diplomatic posting in Kyiv\, where Simon participated as an international civil servant in the official peace talks between Russia and Ukraine\, he and his family fled the war – like so many others – before finding himself in The Hague.
