SPREEEK: A New Platform for Debate and Dialogue in the Hague
On Tuesday, March 8th, a new digital platform for public debate and dialogue in The Hague—SPREEEK—was launched by city Mayor Jan van Zanen. He confirmed the Hague’s support for the initiative which includes the Just Peace platform, run by Humanity Hub to enable international organisations and NGOs working for a more peaceful and just world to connect with a wider public. Van Zanen especially noted the need for a debate and dialogue now – against the backdrop of war in Ukraine – more than ever.
SPREEEK’s vision and mission is to conduct debates on a wide range of social and cultural topics, in as many ways and with as many participants as possible. This means making them easy to find both online and offline, and accessible in both English and Dutch. There are four major themes: Freedom, Society, Sustainability, and the City.
On SPREEEK.nl, you can find a comprehensive list of all the interesting conversations taking place in and about the city. The virtual platform functions as a central meeting place for all types of dialogues and debates offered, thanks to the partnership of 10 cultural institutions integral to The Hague:
- Beeld & Geluid Den Haag (Sound and Vision The Hague)
- Bibliotheek Den Haag (Central Library)
- De Tussenruimte (EMMA)
- Filmhuis Den Haag
- Het Nationale Theater (Royal Theater, Koninklijke Schouwburg)
- Literatuurmuseum-Kinderboekenmuseum (Children’s Book Museum)
- Montesquieu Instituut
- Museon en Omniversum
- Nieuwspoort
- The Hague Humanity Hub / JustPeace
