Next to supporting our programmes team, you will help the development of a diverse community, help members make valuable connections, and be creative by helping develop and implement new programmes and projects. 

There are four internship positions available in the programmes team, which are described below. You will be able to select your preferred role and other preferences, and share your motivation in the application form.  

Positions

Public Engagement & Projects (Dutch required) 

Co-lead the execution and development of the Hub’s public engagement activities, e.g. Just Peace Open Day, Just Peace Movie Nights, walking tours etc. You will also support communication activities for the Just Peace online channels, planning and creating content to grow our audience and engage followers.  

Community Development Research & Projects  

Co-lead research and community development projects and help coordinate efforts to map, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, potential members and speakers. Support and curate our relationship building and targeted communication activities. You will also support activities within our digitalisation programming. 

Community Programming & Projects  

Co-lead our connection and knowledge sharing programming activities including supporting after hour event series and more. You will be the main support for the Hub’s talent programming including training sessions and the Talent for Good Fair, as well as other third-party projects. 

Membership Development & Projects 

Co-lead membership growth and service delivery activities. You act as a host and first point of contact for prospective members and support membership acquisition and onboarding. You coordinate community building events, e.g. onboarding sessions, knowledge sharing sessions, community after-hour drinks. 

General responsibilities

All interns in the programming team share some of the following tasks. 

  • Coordinate projects within the Hub’s programming areas such as talent, access to funding, public engagement, digitalisation, and other general connection and knowledge sharing activities. These include events such as Meet and Greets, movie nights, after hours event series and learning sessions.  
  • Co-lead and support activities such as Meet & Greets, delegation hosting and more. 
  • Collaborate with other departments within the Hub such as the communications team and the campus team to respectively help promote and facilitate the logistics for events. 
  • Assist partner and member organisations in co-creating and executing events and programmes, as well as content to be shared on our websites. 
  • Represent and present the Humanity Hub at Hub and partner events. 
  • Support efforts to map, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, potential members and speakers. 
  • Support the Hub’s business development and fundraising activities.

  • You are punctual, well-organized, proactive and can multi-task 
  • A flexible, can-do attitude, ready to jump between tasks and help where needed, and suggest improvements. 
  • Ideally you have experience with event management and facilitation. 
  • You are fluent in English and can (ideally) communicate in Dutch. Dutch speaking candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.  
  • Excellent communication skills, in writing and verbally. 
  • You can work independently and collaborate within a team. You welcome feedback and use it to improve and learn. 
  • Available for flexible working hours to support events as required. 
  • You are studying/have studied a degree in a relevant field (for example, but not limited to: Development Studies, International Relations, International Law, Political Sciences, Public Relations, Communication, Business Management) 
  • You are legally allowed to do an internship in the Netherlands 
  • You are living in, or near, The Hague 
  • You must be able to work at least 4 days per week (32 hours) 
  • You must be available for the entire duration of the internship; 
  • An internship allowance of €500 per month, based on 40 hours a week (€400 per month, based on 32 hours a week) 
  • Paid holiday allowance (depending on how many hours you work: 8 days based on 32 hours per week); 
  • The possibility of part-time hybrid working (usually 25% of your working hours, or 1 day if you work 4 days per week); 
  • 25% discount on all food & beverage at the Hub Café;
