White Helmets Foundation is a member of The White Helmets Group, a grassroots-founded civil defence humanitarian group started operating in Syria in 2013 to support those affected by the historic and ongoing Syrian crisis. The White Helmets are well-known for search and rescue in the aftermath of natural disasters and attacks on civilians, but their work has expanded in response to the needs of the communities they serve, now including delivery of life-saving emergency services, medical support and community resilience work to vulnerable communities, as well as justice and accountability programming that aims to contribute to ending impunity, building a culture of accountability, and laying the foundation for future post-conflict justice efforts. The White Helmets have saved approximately 115,000 lives since the organisation’s foundation.
