Policy & Advocacy Consulting

Website Mercy Corps

Deadline: August 31

Mercy Corps is a leading partner in the Jobtech Alliance, an initiative which seeks to build and support an inclusive ‘jobtech’ ecosystem in Africa to allow young people to access jobs.  While the main focus of our work is working with African tech companies matching young people to jobs, we are looking to identify ways to create incentives/remove barriers for global corporations to offer employment digitally to young Africans.
We will begin this work by looking at the context in Germany.  We are already aware that there are many – both in government and in corporations – that are alert to the demographic challenge facing the German labour market, and see outsourcing or Global Business Services (GBS), and hiring from Africa as part of the solution. Mercy Corps are interested in examining whether there are policy barriers or incentive opportunities within the German government to facilitate growth in hiring of African talent in Germany, through use of remote work, outsourcing or GBS, whilst also ensuring this activity is pro-development and respects key rights and policy issues in Africa.
