Are you looking to gain experience in Marketing & Communications at a mission-driven nonprofit organisation? Join our team as a Junior Communications Officer (Intern). Next to our Communications and Marketing Manager, Just Peace Team, and other colleagues you’ll help make the work of The Hague Humanity Hub and its members visible and impactful!

What you will do

You’ll take on (some) of the following tasks:

  • Manage the Humanity Hub’s social media platforms, schedule and create content to build audience and engage followers
  • Update and promote the Hub web calendar with the latest events from the Hub programmes, Hub community and partners
  • Update and promote the Talent Hub with the latest jobs and talent opportunities from the community
  • Coordinate and produce the monthly external newsletter
  • Work with the programming department to develop communication plans for programmes and events
  • Work with other departments to ensure good marketing and promotion of all Hub products and activities
  • Assist with the development of creative concepts and marketing strategies
  • Write copy for a variety of mediums including our blog and social media
  • Produce visual content for our online platforms
  • Support the maintenance, upkeep and development of the Hub’s website
  • Interview members for the Humans of the Hub stories and write engaging profile pieces

  • Ideally you have experience with producing content and managing websites, newsletters and social media channels
  • Excellent communication skills, in writing and verbally, ideally with an interest in writing and editing new content
  • You are fluent in English and can (ideally) communicate in Dutch
  • A genuine interest in the Humanity Hub’s community and ecosystem for a more peaceful and just world
  • A curious, friendly personality with the ability to stay calm, responsive and solution oriented
  • You are punctual, well-organized, proactive and can multi-task
  • Self-starter with proven leadership skills with an eye for detail and finishing touches
  • A flexible, can-do attitude, ready to jump between tasks and help where needed, and suggest improvements
  • You are able to work independently as well as collaborate within a team. You welcome feedback and use it to improve and learn
  • You are tech savvy and aren’t afraid to learn how to use new tools
  • Available for flexible working hours to support events as required
  • You are currently enrolled in an academic programme: you are in the final stages of your studies in a relevant field (for example, but not limited to: Development Studies, International Relations, International Law, Political Sciences, Public Relations, Communication, Business Management)
  • You must be enrolled in an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship period
  • You are legally allowed to do an internship in the Netherlands
  • You are living in, or near, The Hague
  • You must be able to work at least 4 days per week (32 hours)
  • An internship position of 32 working hours per week (4 days) for a period of 6 months at the Humanity Hub
  • An internship allowance of €500 per month, based on 40 hours a week
  • Paid holiday allowance (depending on how many hours you work: 8 days based on 32 hours per week)
  • The possibility of part-time hybrid working (usually 25% of your working hours)
  • 25% discount on all food & beverage at the Hub Cafe
