SDG 7 – How does the Netherlands contribute to Renewable Energy in Developing Countries?

5 April, 2019

Are you active in the (renewable) energy sector and do you have growth ambitions in developing countries?

Then come to The Hague on 5 April and participate in the debate on Dutch contributions to accelerated realisation of the sustainable development goal (SDG) 7: access to affordable and sustainable energy. During this event we launch the new subsidy scheme ‘SDG Results: Access to renewable energy’ (SDG 7 Results) and the new phase of other instruments, such as the FMO Access to Energy Fund, GETInvest and the International Clean Energy Partnership.

The sector event is opened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the World Bank and IRENA, the International Renewable Energy Agency. The central question is how companies, financiers, NGOs, knowledge institutions and government can work together to accelerate the SDG 7 goals in developing countries and thus contribute to an ambitious global climate action.

Participants can make contact with governments, companies, NGOs and financiers in the renewable energy sector in developing countries. There are round table sessions on various themes within the renewable energy sector, such as:

  • financing of start-ups,
  • renewable energy in the humanitarian sector,
  • investments in large-scale renewable energy generation, and
  • the future of clean cooking
