The Hague International Organisation & NGO Reception 2019

29 January, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

- Invitation Only

The city of The Hague warmly invites you to its annual International Organisation & NGO reception.

The city is proud to be the home of a vibrant ecosystem that contributes to a better world. The Hague hosts more than 200 international organisations and NGOs, as well as other impact-driven social enterprises, innovative start-ups and knowledge institutes.

We believe that strengthening connections will increase impact. This year’s reception will highlight the diversity of the Hague community and offer opportunities for new connections. Next to drinks and bites, there will be short side workshops on the following themes:

  • Data Security and Cyber Protection for NGOs (Karama, X-Systems, Justice and Peace, and Startpage.com)
  • How can SMEs and NGOs collaborate to realize the SDGs? (Oxfam Novib, Twynstra Gudde, and ImpactCity)
  • Digital Learning Innovations (Centre for Innovation, Leiden University)
  • Business Model Transformation for NGOs (InnoPlot and Humanity Hub)

Programme:

16:00 Walk-in
16:30 Welcoming by Deputy Mayor Saskia Bruines and Humanity Hub Managing Director Jill Wilkinson
followed by a workshop, networking, and live music.

We look forward to welcoming you on January 29 at the Hague Humanity Hub!

This event is by invitation only.

About the workshops

Data Security and Cyber Protection for NGOs (Karama, X-Systems, Justice and Peace, and Startpage.com)

Members of NGOs have large amounts of valuable information on their personal devices, ranging from contact details of members of parliament, diplomatic staff, to future policy documents, lobby documents and so on. However, it is widely common for NGOs to not be properly protected against cyber attacks, therefore turning them into the main target of hacks to their systems. The goal of this workshop is to inform the NGOs in The Hague about the possibilities to improve their digital security and to protect their partners abroad.

How can SMEs and NGOs collaborate to realize the SDGs? (Oxfam Novib, Twynstra Gudde, and ImpactCity)

How can small medium enterprises (SME’s) contribute to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals? How can NGO’s and SME’s work together to make (local) impact? Be inspired by the approach of Oxfam Novib and share your vision and ideas!

Digital Learning Innovations (Centre for Innovation, Leiden University)

Join us to explore the digital trends in knowledge sharing.

Business Model Transformation for NGOs (InnoPlot and Humanity Hub)

Social and commercial business models are colliding. Not for profits are becoming more business-like and commercial enterprise is becoming more socially conscious. But are our current business models fit for the future? Do we need to find new ways of matching funding and capital to social impact? Do you think you might need to reinvent your organisation?
