Date: Wednesday 3 November 2021
Time: 17:00 – 18:30 hour
Address: Wijnhaven, Turfmarkt 99 2511 DP The Hague

Women In International Security Netherlands (WIIS NL) is pleased to invite you to their first live [and hybrid online] event on Wednesday, 3 November at 17:15.

This event, sponsored by the British Embassy in The Hague, is entitled Women Reporting from the Frontlines: A Discussion with Female War Correspondents.  This event will be introduced by Joanna Roper, British Ambassador to the Netherlands.

From Iraq to Sri Lanka to Nicaragua women have been reporting from the frontlines for centuries sometimes to great acclaim. As part of our overarching theme this year at WIIS NL of Women in War and Peace in this roundtable we ask female journalists about their experiences as war correspondents. What are their unique strengths? What obstacles do they face when reporting in hazardous conditions?

In a moderated panel discussion, we would like to invite female war correspondents to openly discuss these experiences and engage with a diverse audience. Following that there will be a complimentary drinks reception in Wijnhaven Building Brasserie (Leiden University in The Hague) from 18:30 – 19:45.
