The Hague University of Applied Sciences: Presentation Clara Meijer-Wichmann Medal
30 March @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Every year, the League for Human Rights awards the Clara Meijer-Wichmann Medal to a person or group that has made a special case for human rights in the Netherlands. Because human rights are not self-evident in the Netherlands either. The surcharge affair is an example of this.
In 2022, the medal was awarded to Chermaine Leysner, Renske Leijten and Pieter Omtzigt. Their enormous commitment to combating the violation of the fundamental rights of users of the childcare allowance was the reason for this.
On October 30, 2022, the medal was already awarded to Renske Leijten and Pieter Omtzigt (read the report here ). Sadly, Chermaine Leysner, as a representative of all parents fighting for their rights, was prevented by illness at the time. On March 30, we will put her in the spotlight and award her the medal during a second event. Renske Leijten and Pieter Omtzigt, both members of the House of Representatives, will also be present.
This event is a collaboration between the League for Human Rights, Faith in Human Rights, study association Trinitas and knowledge center Global and Inclusive Learning.
The award ceremony / programme is in Dutch, but the discussion can be in English if audience members indicate so.
