SPREEEK: Haagsch College: Try Out Revolusi: Een Levende Geschiedenis

The Indonesian struggle for independence put an end to Dutch colonial rule in Asia. A history that still divides today. But what exactly happened there? And how did Indonesians experience their struggle for independence?

The Belgian historian and writer David Van Reybrouck conducted six years of research and spoke to the very last witnesses of this history in the Netherlands and Indonesia, but also in Japan and Nepal. In his theater performance Revolusi: a living history David teaches us to look at the Dutch East Indies through different eyes. And he explains why an independent Indonesia changed the world forever.

Using beautiful images, gripping stories and intriguing characters, he shows how the Indonesian revolusi still lives on in our time.
