P2P Facilitation: Facilitating Uncomfortable Conversations

17 May, 2022 @ 10:00 am 11:30 am

The Humanity Hub is pleased to bring together its members in regular peer-to-peer (P2P) groups, centered around the theme of facilitation. These are informal opportunities to find one other, foster collaboration, and share knowledge and ideas among those working on common goals.

This month’s group will be facilitated by Kelly Buis and Matt Barnaby, from ImpactBasis, looking at the challenging topic of ‘facilitating uncomfortable conversations’.

Do you ever admire someone for making a courageous decision? Good news – everyone can train their courage muscle! One of the steps in doing so is to engage in difficult and uncomfortable conversations, even if avoiding them seems a way more attractive choice.

For us as facilitators this brings up the question: What is the best way to guide these conversations? In this P2P we will explore alternative structures to facilitate meetings and conversations, called liberating structures. Advocates argue that liberating structures lead to more innovation, inclusion, participation, clarity, purpose and fun.

We have all experienced managed discussions, open discussions and brainstorms. Are these the right tools to do so? In this P2P we will explore alternative structures to facilitate meetings and conversations: liberating structures. We are looking forward to exploring together!
