(Online) The Political Challenge of Migration: In Conversation with Tineke Strik

24 June, 2022 @ 1:00 pm 2:30 pm

In the coming decades, supporting refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and other migrants will likely demand a growing effort from humanitarian organizations. At the same time, the topic of migration is increasingly being politicized, placing humanitarian organizations in the middle of a political battle. This is why KUNO is organizing a series of events discussing current trends in migration and their significance for humanitarian actors.

The challenge of migration in European Politics

What is new in the EU pact on migration and asylum? How does the EU deal with state-initiated violence against refugees in member states? What are the implications of bilateral deals with countries like Turkey, Morocco and Libya? The second event of the series on migration and refugees will cover the topic of challenges that migration brings to the EU and how they are currently addressed.

The topic will be introduced by Tineke Strik, Member of the European Parliament (Groen Links, Greens) and former professor of migration law, who will be interviewed by journalist and host Bahram Sadeghi. After the interview, there will be discussion, with input from Anila Noor (New Women Connectors), Ton Huijzer (Independent consultant), and the audience.

This is a virtual event that will take place via zoom.
