Major Trends in Global Migration: In Conversation with Leo Lucassen

12 September, 2022 @ 3:00 pm 4:30 pm

In the coming decades, supporting refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and other migrants will likely demand a growing effort from humanitarian organizations. At the same time, the topic of migration is increasingly being politicized, placing humanitarian organizations in the middle of a political battle. This is why KUNO is organizing a series of events discussing current trends in migration and their significance for humanitarian actors.

Global trends in migration

What are the expected developments in terms of migration globally? What will be the directions of movement? What does this mean for socio-economic development in different parts of the world? The third event in the series on migration and refugees will cover the topic of continuities and changes in migration and their social, economic and demographic impact.

The topic will be introduced by Leo Lucassen, professor of social history at Leiden university and the International Institute of Social History (Amsterdam) and specialized in the history of migration and integration, who will be interviewed by journalist and host Bahram Sadeghi. After the interview, there will be discussion, with input from Anila Noor (New Women Connectors), Ton Huijzer (Independent consultant), and the audience.

We are happy to finally be able to organize real-life events again, and invite you to join us in person for this interactive event.
