Lunch & Learn: Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

No matter what profession we lead, our daily life will always have a variety of situations where there are conflicts of interests, opposing views, and problems that need collective cooperation to overcome. Many people choose to avoid confrontations and forgo having to negotiate, in fear of going into an unpleasant situation or sabotaging their relationship with others.

In this 2.5 hour workshop, you will be introduced to the basics of negotiation and communicating your position, by identifying different types of behavior taking place in communication and build a listening style that helps to assert your needs and concerns. You will also identify the main elements that make a good negotiation and get the chance to practice different tools in order to negotiate and achieve suitable outcomes.

This workshop is aimed at young professionals from various sectors, students, and anyone with little to no prior experience with negotiation and wants to get introduced to the subject.

The session will be run by Dr. Tareq Omairi, a Learning & Development expert, Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Dr. Omairi will bring the experience of working in Academic, Scientific, and International Relations disciplines, to help participants in recognizing what it takes to build understanding and trust when working with stakeholders coming from different backgrounds, priorities, and mindsets.

We’ll begin by getting lunch at 12:00 (bring your own or purchase at the Hub Cafe), with the workshop commencing afterwards.
