When it comes to justice in Africa\, and the linkages between peace and justice\, who better to describe the realities of their own and international justice systems than African Chief Justices themselves. \nIn this #HagueTalks\, Lady Justice Sophia Akuffo\, Chief Justice of Ghana and Lady Justice Irene Mambilina\, Chief Justice of Zambia\, will explain what justice means to them. They will share their ideas and insights about the importance of justice for sustainable peace and development\, as well as what role Africa and Africans will play in the dynamics of peace and justice. The Justices will also share personal experiences as female Justices in this challenging environment and talk about how to tackle the challenge of improving access to justice. \n  \nABOUT THE SPEAKERS \nSophia A. B. Akuffo is the Chief Justice of Ghana with both considerable experience in the Ghanaian private sector and as a judge at the Supreme Court and in a pioneering role – and later president – at the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. \nIrene Chirwa Mambilima is the Chief Justice of Zambia who has chaired Zambia’s Electoral Commission in both parliamentary and presidential polls and has taken part in election observation missions across Africa and led a mission monitoring Liberia’s presidential election. \nEvent moderator is Christina Moreno \, an international law expert. \nJoin us for this inspiring conversation. \n  \nThis #HagueTalks is part of the Arusha-The Hague programme and takes place during the visit of eight African Chief Justices and Justices to The Hague.
