Flood Forecasting for Anticipatory Action: Applying Flood Models in Humanitarian Contexts

3 March, 2022 @ 10:00 am 11:00 am

Agenda

Flood forecasts can provide critical information to help people get ahead of rising water levels before a crisis unfolds. This webinar, hosted by the OCHA Centre for Humanitarian Data, brings together experts and practitioners from Google, the University of Reading and the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre. The speakers will explore examples of flood models, the spatial and temporal scale at which these models can provide risk information, how probabilistic models are interpreted, the uncertainties of these models, and where floods models have been used to inform anticipatory action.
